Counting down to 2008

Its the threshold of the new year again. In less than an hour, 2007 will be over and it will be the new year of 2008.

Yesterday service definitely blessed me in a great way. Pst preached on Change. Indeed, change is an inevitable part of life. We need to be prepared for changes happening in our lives and around us. Change begins with a decision. Decision will be translated into dedication. Dedication requires discipline. Courage and faith are the X-factors for change.

"When change is necessary, not to change is destructive."

"Either we lead change or change will lead us. Our ability to lead change determines our success in life."

In 2008, there are many areas that I need to change. To change, I need to put behind tradition. Tradition in my thinking. I want to be able to lead change to bring about a better me. There are lots of things which I want to do in 2008. 2008 will be a year of change and new things. I believe that it will be the best year yet. Lets live 2008 with no regrets.

Here wishing you a happy and a blessed new year. :)

Semester One @ NTU

Looking back at semester one, it was definitely an exciting experience. Stepping into school again is definitely something which I looked forward to.It was more than 2 years after my junior college. Thanks to the freshman orientation that I attended for only 3 days, I am more prepared. Semester one is a time of adjustments and getting used to the new school environment for me. Going for tennis every Monday, eating at the different canteens around NTU, rushing for lecture and skipping lectures has become a common routine for me. I hope that I won't be skipping lectures in the coming semester. But, no promise. Now, I am no longer freshman. After 1 semester, I know what is expected of me in school.

In semester one, I started to learn tennis. I am still in the process of learning the sport. Haha. I hope that 1 day I can master and play the game well. Despite of me being inexperienced, I played for my school in the Inter-School Games. Though I had lost, but I gained experience and it let me know the sport better. I will definitely train harder to improve my skills.

Indeed many things had happened in semester one, I can say that I had been integrated into the NTU culture. Looking forward to the next semester @ NTU. It is definitely going to be better and more exciting.

Results Aftermath

Yesterday, I received my first semester results in NTU. I was surprised that I actually got B plus for my Organic Chemistry. It is definitely the grace of God because I was failing the subject before the final semester. I thank God for that. Overall, I am satisfied with my results although there are still room for improvements. In semester two, I will put in hard work and do my best. I hope that I won't be skipping lectures anymore in semester two. Haha. Indeed, THE BEST IS YET TO BE.

First Marathon

Running a marathon definitely requires . These are the essential qualities required for a marathon. Running in this marathon for the first time, I was excited about it. There are many times during the race that I feel like giving up but I hanged on till the finishing line. I did not finished the race with a fantastic timing but it was a memorable experience for me. Through this race, I had learnt many important lessons. Our life journey are like marathon races. There are times of up and down, times of joy and sadness. There are times when we feel like giving up and times of struggle. We need qualities like strength, endurance and perseverance to walk us through this life journey. The route is long. By embracing the right attitudes and perspectives about life will help surely us along.

I am already planning to join the Marathon again next year. But this time round, I will put in more efforts to train. Haha. I hope to achieve a better timing this round.

7 types of giver

Communitarians

These people are individuals who give because of their sense of belonging to a community. They often have strong ties to their local community.

Devout

The devout do good because it is God's will. They believe that giving is a moral obligation and that one should not expect recognition for giving time or money.

Altruists

Altruists give because they feel it is a moral imperative to help, and they expect no recognition.

Socialites

They focus on doing good because it can be fun. Often, they are members of a social class for which fund-raising includes some form of socialising and entertainment.

Repayers

They do good in return for what they have received in life. For example, they may have been helped before and now, with money, they want to show their gratitude by giving to others.

Investors

These people see philanthropy as good business. They are motivated by the personal tax and estate benefits that giving to philanthropic causes offers.

Dynasts

They see philanthropy as a family tradition. Either they have inherited their wealth or were taught since young about the importance of helping those in need.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas 2007. Christmas also signifies that the year is coming to an end. Reflecting on 2007 and Visioning 2008. Re-positioning myself for greater growth and doing more new things that I have never imagine I could do. Its time for planning.

Christmas Connects

We wanna wish you a Merry Christmas
We wanna wish you a Merry Christmas
We wanna wish you a Merry Christmas
From the bottom of our heart.

Feliz Navidad
Feliz Navidad
Feliz Navidad
Prospero Ano y Felicidad.

These are the words from the all-time popular Christmas carols. What is so special about carols? Today I had the chance to catch a carols performance at the Esplanade with some of my friends. The Carolling choir sang a few Christmas carols. Audiences' attention were on the choir as they sang those carols. People from all walks of life were connected by these carols. Music connects and especially true during this period of love, joy and peace.

Reason for the Season

It is Christmas again. The coldest period of the year. Why it is that so many people around the world celebrate this day? There is only one reason. It is not because of santa claus, not because of feasting but it is for someone. Someone who is special to you and me. Who is this person? This person is love. 2000 years ago, He was born in Bethlehem on Christmas Day. His birth not only brought about a revolutional change to the spiritual landscape of the World. Most importantly, He brought salvation, love, peace and joy to mankind. He provides a way for us to be reconciled with God. His name is Jesus. He is truly the reason for the season.

Quote from Forrest Gump

"Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get."
