Communitarians
These people are individuals who give because of their sense of belonging to a community. They often have strong ties to their local community.
Devout
The devout do good because it is God's will. They believe that giving is a moral obligation and that one should not expect recognition for giving time or money.
Altruists
Altruists give because they feel it is a moral imperative to help, and they expect no recognition.
Socialites
They focus on doing good because it can be fun. Often, they are members of a social class for which fund-raising includes some form of socialising and entertainment.
Repayers
They do good in return for what they have received in life. For example, they may have been helped before and now, with money, they want to show their gratitude by giving to others.
Investors
These people see philanthropy as good business. They are motivated by the personal tax and estate benefits that giving to philanthropic causes offers.
Dynasts
They see philanthropy as a family tradition. Either they have inherited their wealth or were taught since young about the importance of helping those in need.
